Just out of curiosity...can you buy books on AC, potting soil, Pepsi, AOL? Should I bother to bring my laptop? Are the hummingbirds there all year 'round? We are going to be there for 2 weeks and I usually put a toothbrush in a book and then get on the plane....so, packing isn't my favorite thing. But we all need the necessities of life!!!.....potting soil not being one of them but I just wondered about that one. Any there have gardens?

Island Grocery has almost everything, in fact I found a book there, that I could not find here before leaving, Sandra Brown's Alibi. For Internet access, go to Cybercoffee on Front street, they have varying rates. Potting soil I can not help you with, but if you rent a golf cart, go north of the Ferry, and note a garden on the left maybe a mile up on the west side. Of course many lovely gardens in town. One yard on Middle street, white sand,
with small plants like a miniature yellow daffodil evenly place all over the yard. Interesting.

yes to several good books on Ambergris caye, leave all work, including the laptop!

lots of good, incredible gardens...
potting soil must be available....
yes to pepsi

on the hummingbirds, I'd ask Susan at Caribbean Villas, c-v-hotel@btl.net , but she's gone for a couple more weeks....

Yes to potting soil...$10 bz for a bushel bag. Garden center in San Telmo area...on left next door to the Bamboo Showroom.

Are you gardening on vacation or staying for an extended period?

You can see some pictures of gardens in some of the places north of the cut at my photoe album. Start at picture #87 I believe. http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4294248071

Pushing dos golf carts again, ugh Chloe? The Potting soil can be bought from Frauline Dany at Riverwalk Nursury, just on da town side of St Matthews School of the low GPA. The town library rents and sells books. By far the best place ta find books is dat black ladies store on Barrier Reef Drive, that has Guadamalian Throws and those classy fake dreadlock wigs. Da place looks odd. But they have a great number of great used books there and also natural Belizian Incense. Haft ax but dat. The worst place to buy books is the Book Store across the street from Holiday Hotel.

Way more Coke cola then Pepsi cola, but I have seen some Pepsi in cans. I bring lots of paperbacks and then leave them for my friends. Plenty of free paperbacks floating around San Pedro, I have traded books at Celi's, Estel's and other places.
Palace Casino had a wall of books but I didn't get the chance to find out if they will trade! Also books on Belize at the international airport.
Besides potting soil we bought aloe plants and lime trees from the nursery there!
