Planning to stay in A/C where is the best place to buy groceries & liquior? Would it be better to buy in Belize City or San Pedro?

get em in San Pedro, no use dragging stuff around. There is the Island SuperMarket a tad south from downtown if you are on the south end, and the San Pedro SuperMarket on the northish end...

both have a good selection. And also Rocks downtown....

there are many smaller stores, and lots of local vendors also. bakeries, Chico's Meats on Pelican Street, Nancy's Store on Black Coral Street, the folks that sell the fresh juice up north across the street from San Pedro supermarket.... man thats the best OJ on the planet...

Part of the fun is shopping around. There is a liquor store on middle street and liquor is sold at some of the small shops and grocery stores as well. Fresh fruit from vendors around town. Cases of Pop and beer from the distributor south of the airport, too.
We shop at a small store the San Pedrano because it is right around the corner from where we stay, cases of pop, water and fresh bread, etc.

As others have said, most of the things you want are available in San Pedro, especially at Island Supermarket.

However, prices and selection are better in Belize City. Save-U at the corner of C.A. Blve. and the Northern Hwy. and Brodies, the branch on the Northern Hwy., are nice modern supermarkets. Not as big as a Kroger's or Public or whatever in the U.S., but nice enough. There also are a couple of places to buy wine in Belize City.

If you will be drinking a lot of beer and/or soft drinks, I would get them from the distributor. You can arrange to have them delivered right to your door. Very convenient and cheaper by the case.

jayhawk, not sure of the name...guess it is just San Pedro Distributors or something. You can't miss it though...south of town across the way from The Island Grocery. Can do all shopping at once...LOL. Where ever you are staying they can tell you how to go about ordering and paying for the beer, etc.
HAVE A GREAT TIME!

jayhawk...don't miss the vegetable boat! If I remember right, it docks on Tuesdays and is so much fun! Some of the locals here can give you better info...it's been a while since I was there.
