I keep hearing that it is easier for Canadians to get citizenship?? It kinda makes sense based on both countries being part of the commomwealth. Can anyone confirm or deny this and what are the requirements? I went down to immigration but the line for stamps was 2 days long....

Still takes 5 years from residency.

Consecutive Residency, they will want to have copies of you passport activities for those 5 years.
Work permits are where commonwealth members get an advantage.

Correct.

However commonwealth citizens also obtain the right to vote in local (village/town/city) elections after living in the town for 6 months.

Commonwealth citizens can also vote in National elections they just have to take a residency card and apply for a voters card.

Don't even need that, just a Commonwealth passport and proof of being in-country for 1 full year.
