We found a great airfare and are coming next weekend. Can we save significant $ by getting a walk up rate when we get there? We are looking at the Sunbreeze, Palms or Ramon's (location is good, and we want a pool) Are we better off making a reservation now, with only a week to go?

What is your next move if you find all three are full? Walk up rates are only available when the hotel or resort has a room at the last minute that they can fill, and usually are very short term stays.

I do not think you will have any trouble doing a walk in this time of the year, I have heard most hotels have rooms available.
As far as savings go do not use a cab to go to the hotel or they will get 20%, go to the hotel yourself and try getting the 20% off, not all hotels will give it to you but there are a few.

Reality..What a concept!

In September and October, the slowest months of the year in the western Caribbean, you can find plenty of room in San Pedro and elsewhere in Belize. You will not be left out on the beach without a room over your head -- I personally guarantee it! In this slow season, a number of hotels are closed, though not on San Pedro, because it is so slow. Walk-up rates ARE available, though hotels don't particularly want you to know that.

Having said that, you can probably get almost as good a deal by booking direct in advance on the Internet. There are some really great deals now in San Pedro. So you don't have to worry you might go ahead and e-mail your top choices and ask what is available.

you could book a couple nights ahead over the net, you'll get a great rate anyway, then play it by ear after you get there.
