They've done it before, successfully. But I think they'll struggle this time. Maybe we should be careful in "updating" XP - perhaps MS will distribute sabotaging updates to boost the chances of Vista. And I'm not just being cynical.
If they aren't careful they'll kill the goose that's been laying all these golden eggs. Already I know several people in the UK who dumped all MS products sometime ago. They still use PCs, but they run them under Linux. And there have been better and free alternatives to MS Office for some time now.
I am using one of the new Ubunto Linux programs for several months now. Smooth easy to use right out of the box. Installs easy and has everything already there free, open office, many applications. Hardest thing is to install printers and such. I still have not gotten my HP PSC 1300 printer working yet.
