Most bars stock a full range of name booze...and most bartenders can mix an array of drinks. Tropical blender drinks are very popular. Never seen fresh oysters here.

Thanks! I'm 20, and planning on coming down for a week by myself as a side-trip from Guatemala City to simply relax and unwind, so from what I have read, CC seems like the ideal place to do it. Any other recommendations in terms of meeting people/night life? I'm not much of a party-er or anything -- I'd much rather read the Economist and have a drink while lying on a beach, but some interaction is always nice Any recommendations or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Chris, you will have a blast. I wish I would have done the type of thing you are doing at 20 yrs. old. That old saying about hindsight being 20/20 and all, I guess.
My suggestion would also be hop on the water taxi to San Pedro. There will be more in the way of nightlife there. Not sure when the last taxi is back to CC,but I would guess, with a high degree of certainty, that it would be long before most people's night finally winds down. Shouldn't be a big deal though. If I were you, once to San Pedro, get a cheap room somewhere (Ruby's?), then go out and have fun and not worry about getting back to CC. Anyway, I think you'll find it easier to meet people in San Pedro.
