Just a really quick correction - this is Cal Syme's project. He is the mastermind - I just help with some of the geek work.

How often is it updated? In other words, how long do I have to stand on the beach to be sure my picture is being beamed around the world (!)

This is fun! Has the tourism board ever thought about placing one showing a beautiful busy beach? I think that would be cheap advertisement.
Bonaire has an underwater one and everyone wants to swim by and get photographed.

About every 15 mins. But it is kind of Belizean - sometimes it is every minute and sometimes as long as 20 something minutes. I guess it all depends on the amount of traffic uploading to the site.

Cal might need to start his own website so that he can upload every minute. That way everybody who wishes to will be able to view Pedro2 and his antics practically live!

By the way for those that are not aware of this, if you scroll down below the webcam still shot there is a feature that allows you to watch a 24 hour time lapse. You can even see where we were experimenting on sunday. Good for a laugh.

At the moment the night shots are boring, might work on that when we get a chance.

The camera might be up and down over the next few weeks while we try different locations etc.

Enjoy.

Amanda

Like right outside of Ruby's or even up by Fidos. The park would be another cool spot. Then send the images (video) to a server and stream it!! I bet Julian at the computer/video store there in SP could put this together!

Now that my office is down town I am thinking about setting one up somewhere nearby. Of course it is all about getting the right set-up for an affordable price.

When the dedicated dsl lines are $100 US per month (gotta have enough speed for the video), affordable is not the right term.

Amanda, I would be interested in helping you (financially)set one up for viewing the square. I think local businesses would be intererested in paying for ad banners to support such an effort once a lot of net traffic starts visiting.

I think most tourists / regular visitors would like to see what's happening in the central park area regularly.

You can email me tommy@tecinfo.com or call 601-849-1918 US.

Sounds good. I'm not sure how quickly we will set something up. Probably by next tourist season (say Christmas.)

But quite honestly when you start talking about setting the thing up as a business and having to run around finding advertisers, collecting dues etc. etc. the whole project loses its appeal for me.

There would need to be someone to "man" the camera during events so that the focus would be zoomed in and out and panned around as required. I'm not saying it won't happen, just when and how.

Maybe we'll get some brain storming going and figure it all out.
