Here is the link for the two web cams on St. Croix. Click on either one to get a larger picture.

I don't know how they are set up but no one "mans" them.

What you could do (instead of being a for profit, with investors or advertisers) if you can find a business in a location that has a good view (down the beach, across the park, etc) and that biz already uses a DSL connection, see if they might be willing to co-host the streaming part. The camera merely connects to the server (via the local LAN or direct connect) and then the streaming software running on the local server can stream the video. Perhaps the city of SP or tourism board could kick in a portion of Operating costs to help with the $100/month, and everyone wins.
Just a thought, wish I was ready to re-locate down there, I would love this type of project!

CoCoview dive resort in Roatan has a couple too. They are a good way to have people daydream of coming back. Good marketing.

Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

Here are a couple that I have installed and yeah no one actually "mans" them, but there is some hands on configs, install, maintenance and system work, behind the scenes... its not a lot tho.

There's a good one in Akumal, refreshes every 10 sec.

What are the red light on the right and the blue light on the left, that I see in the night shots?

Long exposure creates distortions, SS. Right is the moon, IMNSHO. Left could be a boat light.

They are both security lights.

We are going to be working on some different angles and hope to be able to get a tighter shot of the beach and sea.
