Balancing our checkbook a couple of days ago we're over by several hundred dollars. Turns out it's our Stimulus Checks - well, at least the portion Uncle Sam decided we were entitled to.

Trying to decide how to spend it (come on! what red-blooded American pays down debt or
saves money?), I got out my copy of this email currently making the rounds:
As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy and avoid the looming recession. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart all the money will go to China (or to pay some of Wal-Mart's legal bills and/or adverse judgments!). If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only businesses left owned by Americans!! Makes sense to me! Sent my first $100 to Dita&Ed's playground project. The rest is going to the first funky, recycled diningroom set I find on CraigsList.
What are you doing with yours?
