As long as you earned at least $3000 in 2007, it's $600 per adult, reduced by 5 percent of the amount of income in excess of $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 for those with a Married Filing Jointly filing status. Also an additional $300 per dependant child.
Several things outside of mega incomes disqualify: most common reason is $$ owed to the IRS (anything owed to the IRS will be deducted - up to the full amount of the refund), additionally, no refund if you didn't file a 2007 return, no Social Security number (both in a married couple must have valid SS #s), unpaid student loans and other leins will be deducted and no checks for those filing extensions are other common disqualifiers.
No check at all based solely on income means an individual AGI of at least $87,000 for an individual or $174,000 for a married couple. Anybody with that takehome oughta think about financing the entire playground equipment shipment!
