Yup, and if it wasnt for the damn tree huggers we'd be drilling in Anwar and the platforms would have been built off Florida's west coast ten years ago the oil would be flowing, the speculators would be scratching their asses and oil would be $50 a barrel. Treehuggers and gutless politicians I mean!!!
Oh well.......have a nice day!!!

And just where do you think we would be able to refine all this oil? There hasn't been a new OIL refinery built here in the last 10/15 years. All the new refinerys have been for Bio-Fuel.Pumping more oil into the pipeline will not solve the price at the pump.Shale oil is in abundance, but the processing is not cost effective. The technology is not there to economicaly extract it.You saw the effect Katrina had on the refineries on the gulf coast. If there were more refineries that would not have had the disasterous effect it did.

The only way to cut the cost of a barrel of oil is to use less. But with the emergance of China and India's consumption, I doubt that will ever happen.

there's plenty of oil other than OPEC oil. brazil just hit a huge field. i have friends here in TX who have oil fields and they're fields are filling back up after having been dry for the past 20 years. strange but true. the devaluation of the US dollar is greatly responsible for the high price of petrol products. when gas hits $7 a gallon here in the US, the tree huggers will be screaming for drilling in alaska and they'll probably drill it.

Huh? What effect katrina had on platforms? So that means no more platforms? C'mon Bill your more intelligent than that, to believe we shouldnt be drilling for oil thats right here. Where was the ecological disaster from Katrina, What happened to platforms? Oil companies paid to repair them. Any skin off your nose? Gotta come up with a better excuse than no drilling - that is BS! sick No drilling in Anwar because of some idiot animals? Assinine!
Saw that guy in Texas with the pump in his back yard - kewl!

Rykat! Please read my post. I said katrina effected the Refineries. I didn't say anything about platforms.
Drilling for oil( that is there) is all well and good. My first , and only question was/is how do we refine it? We don't have the refineries to handle it. The Oil companies are not building anymore. The argument can be put forth that if we don't bring OIL in from OPEC then we can handle the Oil we bring in from other places within our borders. The problem with that( at the moment) is, getting at that Oil is more expensive than buying it.

"Oil companies repaired them. any skin off your nose"

just a few skins out of my pocket.. the nose is fine!!

As Far as ANWAR, I'm on your side. I believe it can be drilled with minimal impact on the region.I think they learned volumes of lessons when they built the Alaskan pipeline. However, at the risk of sounding redundant! What do we do with it? WE Can't refine it.
But that oil in the pipeline did so damn little for us because the majority of that oil heads to Japan to help the balance of payments.

If anyone really believes that the Billions of Billions of profits is going to research and new platforms , and new refineries then thats who you should be questioning thier intelligence.

Oil exec: "Oh! Oh! I have an idea. lets stop buying oil from OPEC, and spend twice as much to find and pump oil from inside/offshore, and sell it to the public for less money".

Returned from Europe last week and prices for fuel are even higher over there. Too bad the US never got around to a transportation system like they have. It would be nice to flip OPEC the bird and be done with them.
