Sailing out of Placencia on May 1st. Found the Sea Spray Hotel in Capt Freya Rauscher's book on Cruising in Belize. Has anyone on the forum stayed there? It looks perfect online. We are in Placencia for 2 nights--one before we get on board and then the night we get off of the boat. We aren't needing swank, just a clean, comfortable place to stay close to the Moorings dock. Any opinions?

Nice place, clean, basic, inexpensive, Belizean owned and operated. Good restaurant next door.

But not real close to Docks.

I'm answering my own post since we just returned from our awesome sailing vacation in Belize. We stayed at Seaspray on each end of our sail and it was great! As Barbara K said above, it is clean and reasonable. It is also right on the beach--just a short walk to a fun beach bar. Cool breezes off the water make even the unair-conditioned rooms comfortable. DeTatch, the onsite restaurant, is great--food is delicious. About a 10-15 walk on the sidewalk to the docks.
