While flying to Belize on US Air, where I paid $5 US for an isle seat on one leg and $15 US for an isle seat on the other leg and $25 US for my second bag and $5 US for a snack pack of biscuits and four year old cheese and having received my free peanuts, I asked the stewardess how much was toilet paper on this flight. She didn't see the humor.
The airlines are chasing an unrealistic business model. Their employess are unhappy, their passengers are unhappy and they are pouring rocks in their operating system with additional paperwork and fees.
It's bad enough that the lottery of changing ticket prices forces everyone to play computer games for hours to find the "best" price. The airlines then add on the hidden fees and taxes. They charge the fees on every ticket, why not show them up front. Oh, by the way, your cheapest ticket you just booked involves five legs and an overnight stay. How can they affort to send you all over the country at a cheaper price than sending you directly to your destination?
And they have all been losing money for years. Makes you wonder.
