once again, we had a wonderful time, start to finish.
we managed to do a lot and nothing all at the same time, my favorite combo smile

first i would like to say thanks to elbert & sari for inviting us to your lovely places of business, and letting us use the facilities. sweet! La Perla and White Sands Cove are both very beautiful places.

also a big 'thanks and super to meet you' to scubaldy and trulover, who graciously invited us into their homes. Simon, was great to see you again, thanks for the breakfast & conversation. sorry we were so hard to track down!

also nice to meet Jan at Portofino, Mark at White Sands, and Wonderwoman at HC school. keep up the good work!

no food report this time, we ate on a shoestring budget - with no regrets. but if you haven't had the chicken patties from pan dulce bakery, THEY ROCK!

highlights of the trip were:

* a visit to friends of friends in the big yellow house down south. thanks bob & maureen for being so welcoming to strangers showing up at your door. what a fantastic home!! what nice people.

*the homes, pool and grounds at La Perla were sooooo gorgeous. spending the afternoon there was really nice. we'll be back (we hope!). (have you guys seen this place? wow! http://ambergriscaye.com/laperladelcaribe/ )

*visiting with the Nunez family of Tanisha Tours. we try to drop in on them each trip now. Big hi to Elodia, Daniel and Genesis, our friends. you may not ever know how much we enjoy just chatting with you. we just adore them, and the stretch of beach by their place is one of our favorite drives.

*we took a day trip with SIN to Xcalak, Mexico. this was certainly the best day if all. amazing start to finish. the boat trip up the back side of the island was a new and incredible experience for us. it was cool to see miles and miles of nothing but wild, unspoiled belize. Capt. Tony was great, we'll use him again. and oh! the food!!! bonus: bf & SIN got to snorkel bacalar chico. truly a day we will never forget.

pics to come, eventually (coaxing is encouraged). Thanks again, Ambergris!!

ok, here they are. please do me the favor of running the slideshow (top right), as they were meant to be seen. you can make it go faster, slower or pause using the numbers on the bottom. don't forget to read the captions! thanks for your continued support smile

Should we read the caption first, or look at the picture and then read the caption?? Or try to do both at once?? And what happens if I accidentally look at some of the pictures before the slideshow starts?? grin

thank you, everyone. that makes it worth the effort.

LM - hope you really liked that one bar/restaurant - it's the only one for miles around. good thing the food was great and the beers cold.

until a celebration day set-up crew drove into town, we had only seen 2 people while walking. low key is an understatement; ghost town is more accurate.

I agree SJ. We spent a week in Xcalak a few years back....talk about relaxing! The only down side was hubby wanted to dive at Chinchorro Banks but the only days the dive shop was scheduled to go there, the weather was not right for the boat trip. We will keep trying through, we loved it.

yeah, dita. we were the only people in the place. all day. the owner & bartender ended up sitting upstairs with us. verrrrry mellow.

i forgot to mention that one of the homes at la perla was the on house-hunters internat'l, if it looked familiar.

also forgot to mention it was nice (as always) to see the tacos blush sorry about the table...
