Remember that 7 of the 9 current Justices were appointed by Republicans. You would think if there were party line votes, things would swing much more conservatively.

McCain is the most liberal Republican to run for President in my lifetime, and probably ever. There is very little chance that his appointees would be any better than Bush Sr.

The problem has always been what is reasonable regulation? The left would like to remove all guns so they regulate to that end. They use terms like Assault Weapons or Armor piercing ammo and gun shows as way to shut down all commerce in guns. Most States went way past reasonable regulation a long time ago. They tried to litigate gun manufactures out of business and that had to be decided in higher courts. (they lost)

LTC holders went from over 2 million (I think)(maybe it was 2.5)in Massachusetts in 1998 to 250,000 today because they made getting a license so difficult and expensive. You can't believe the hoops I have to jump through and I've had a LTC for about 30 years. Violent crime was dropping every year till 1998 and has risen every year since. What is going on? You decide.

Texas is a living example of loose gun control it has lots of lessons and examples. you can buy ammunition in any seven eleven convince store along the highway and almost every one has a gun and fires it regularly.
What does that do to crime in Texas?
Trespassers have a respectful caution.
burglars are very nervous.
