Thanks for sharing Jill. I saw the picture of Elvi's. did you read the post that says it was too damaged to rebuild? Looks like they may build somewhere else but it won't be the same. We ahve been going to Elvi's since about 1993.
I did read that post about Elvi's....what a shame. It had so much character and flare inside...I'm sure it will be greatly missed. Although, who knows...the new one could be even better, think positive
We did get pictures of the bar, in fact one of them I'm behind it with Mr. Como, we'll have to post that one as well. That bar was our home away from home
jill, great pics! so glad you shared them with us. i sent my photos to marty to scan, but he's been pretty busy this last week... hope we'll be seeing them soon. i also heard the bar blew away, and half of steve's dive shop pier too. denny used to work at JE.
Hey guys don't worry about Elvi's! I have been going to the Island since I was 4 years old & when Elvis first started it was a tiny hole in the wall with just a counter that sat two. The hamburgers were out of this world. If they could go from that to the elaborate & delicious establishment it became they can make it work anywhere. I for one can't wait to see how beautifully the new one will turn out to be. I sure do miss those burgers!
Its at Journey's End Resort...a fantastic place to stay. Not only did we have the swim up bar and grill...BUT at one end of the pool is a large tanning pool. Only about 4 inches deep, so I could lay down in the water and still get a tan...you gotta love that!
WOW!!!AWESOME. Thanks....is it still there after Keith? We are going Oct.25 and are still not sure about reservations due to the storm. All info appreciated. Does anyone know this Celeste that has been posting on the hurricane board? I have e-mailed Sandshaker to ask if conditions are as bad as Celeste says. I hope not, as we have got to go.
Apparently it did suffer some damage...the very cool outdoor bar by the restaurant has been blown away and some damage to a few of the beach front cabanas. We stayed in beach cabana #4, its so sad But I'm sure they will be back in no time...ready to serve their famous Rum punches!
TickTock My hats off to you. if i could set up a wab page of pics like yours i'd be a happy camper. Elvi's was the hippest restaurant there on AC, eh. I went in barefoot so I had my toes in the sand while having an elegent dining experience with food so fab. great pics too
