Reading about the passing of J.D. and Richie made me start reminising about some of the island legends we have lost. Just thinking about them brings back all kinds of memories that make me smile. Here is a list of some of those legendary characters:
1. Paisano
2. Jim Wade
3.Eliana and Jimpa Parham
3.Rev. Bill
4. Jackie Devine
5.Trish Meyercord
6.Herman Smith
7.Carl Richie
8. Richie Woods
9.J.D.
10.Jerry McDermott
11. Tom Kirkpatrick

Add some of your own to the list and think of the funny stories and memories. Most are expates who were true free spirits, living here before we had pizza deliveries, vehicles or air conditioning. All were facinating people with great life stories. Someone asked who would take their place, but it seems we just keep adding new and interesting characters thru the years

John Langford. Lovely man. I always enjoyed his sage advice.

Old Man John Grief was an absolute hoot.

Oh gosh, everybody mentioned above has many great stories linked to them.

Mervyn Key too.

Where did I see photo of Richard Ysaguirre the other day. Man he could play a mean piano.

Trish Meyercord was wonderful to me. She bought my high school graduation prom dress. What a night to remember.

Herman Smith taught me so much about life, and death. He was a trooper to the end.

Jerry McDermott was one of my first bosses. He and Linda taught me so much about business and living life to its fullest.

Carl Richee was a hell of a pastry chef - and was so generous.

Paisano - when we were kids he would give out candy and always had a kind uplifting spirit.

Jackie Devine was a mother figure to so many of us.

Man I want to talk about everyone on the list but I gotta go work....

Wish I had Trish's writing skills. Have always wanted to write a book with stories and andecdotes of all these great people. Any talented people out there??? Amanada, Fortunatly, your father is still with us (and for I long time I hope), but he will probably someday be part of this list of island legends. In my minds eye I can see him with his perfectly groomed mustache and military bearing , striding purposfully up the beach. I always smiled thinking if he just had a pith helmet,it was like a scene from "Passage to India". Anyone remember they put a pvc pipe down Rev. Bills grave, so Norman could take him a drink occasionally?
