I haven't seen any Solar Powered Golf Carts in San Pedro yet, but I think that may change! I looked up some related web sites; here is an interesting article on autobloggreen: Greener golf with a solar golf cart.

That solar installation offers three amps per hour and can completely charge the batteries in fifteen hours. Otherwise, a regular outlet can charge the vehicle overnight.

Top speed is said to be twenty-four miles per hour. That seems plenty fast enough for the golf course, if you ask us. We also think that its 755 pound capacity should be more than enough for a couple of golfers and their assorted gear. Two cup holders are available for when the ever-important beer cart makes it over to your area, so all the bases appear to be covered."

I found two Solar Golf Carts on Cruise Car: the Sunray and Kudo.

Jesse,
I brought that cart down in '02. I had the franchise for the tops. I also sold one top to Moncho's. The concept never took off because you had to suppliment the charge with electric power. The solar top took too long to fully charge the batteries.

If I remember correctly, the tops were about $1800. Not exactly chump change.

I've been driving electric carts in San Pedro for over 14 years now and find that its a good solution to my transportation needs. On the rare occasion when I want to go way up north I rent a gas cart for the day. A set of batteries, well-maintained last me for over 4 years.

When I look at the solar golf cart the first thing that comes to my mind is the average San Pedro building contractor's helper! I am constantly removing chunks of concrete and wood blocks from my golf cart roof - stuff carelessly dropped from construction sites. I wonder how resistant the solar panels are to this type of abuse.

My electric golf cart has served me well. The batteries do tend to last around 4 years.

I don't like the noise the gas golf carts, rhinos etc make. Wears on my nerves.
