It's my understanding from Tulu and Elio that there are a number of submerged tunnels far north on AC that reach back towards the lagoon. Certainly not evidence of Mayan activity but the article is a great read anyway.

Does anybody know where the tunnels are the article is talking about? I saw the article earlier this morning, but there is no reference to location other than in the Yucatan. Thanks!

These are all under water and the article is speaking of underwater cave exploration.
Mexico is big on diving them on the Mexican side of the Yucatan, the few on North Ambergris have never been explored.
The possible adventure haunts me but Cave Diving scares me.

I agree, Elbert! I tried Cenote diving but that is REAL close to cave diving to me and I only made it in about 30 feet and decided I didn't like a roof!

I guess to answer the question more directly is 3 I know of , one Near the Shrimp farm, another off the trail at the Basel Jones air strip, then close to Sueno Del Mar I'm sure their are more but If I look harder I'm afraid I might be to tempted to bring tanks....and sorry to disagree but definitely evidence of Mayan activity.

Richie spoke often of these "tubes". I know of a few who have been into them....

I've tried U.S. Submarines for 8 years with no claustrophobia, learned to fly my own Cherokee 140 and love to scuba dive but I ain't going into any cave that longer than I can't see light at the other end. I'm with you Elbert, they scare me a lot.

I too enjoy scuba diving, but I was caught in a settled snow cave as a kid and I can still get that helpless feeling just thinking about it. No way will I explore an underwater tunnel.
