Now let me ask, when diving or snorkeling, is it legal (case we are all about being legal) to take lobster ? What is the season ? what are the size limits ? How does a visitor go about getting a license / permit ?

The legal size limit for lobster is 3 inches carapace length and 4 ounces tail weight. The season is closed Feb 15 - June 15. You do not need a license to take seafood for personal consumption only for commercial purpose.

So does paying an employee at a resort or on a boat to dive for lobsters for you constitute personal consumption. What if a group of guest want a few to share on a veranda and ask an employee to go out? I have heard you can go out to the reef in kayaks and surface dive for lobsters. Is that accurate? We would love to prepare some lobster and spend an evening sharing it with new friends met at the pool or bar.
