I saw a thread last week that said their were 5 rivers now between town and the south end of the island and that the road was gone. Is this true. We have property just north of Malcolm's house and are curious to know what's happening down there. Any news or pictures would be appreciated.
Thanks, KB

Which house exactly is yours? The blue one next door? Let me know and I will ask Malcolm to give me a report.

We haven't built our house yet - plans to start this spring not looking so great as I expect alot of reconstruction to be done. However, we did just finish our dock and are really hoping it's OK. We're just a couple of lots south of the old pine trees and just north of Malcolms house. Thanks for the info. KB

Hi KB. Not sure where your property is in relation to Ian and Barb's, but we did finally receive an email from them with some detailed information on what all happened down there. With respect to the condition of that end of the island, he did say:
"Lots of ground level damage to land, vegetation and any equipment within about 4 feet of ground level.
There are actually three channels/inlets that prevent road access to town, so we come in by boat every three days or so."
Hope that helps a bit.
Melissa (Ian's daughter)

Yes that helps - thanks Melissa. HOw far south of town can you get by car. Can you get past the road to the dump? Do you have any idea if they would fill these chanels in or has mother nature thrown us a curveball!!

We live about 1/2 mile south of Malcom, and have heard most of the new inlets are south of Malcoms. Between the Blue house and Malcoms there is a big inlet. They are dredging there now to fill it in. Malcom lost lots of his beach. Further south, a few lots completely under water. Most people are talking about dredging, to get it back to where it was. Cost lots of money. Are you the ones with the pier that has the arch, where the wedding took place?

We are north of Malcolm about 1/4 mile. They just finished the dock 2 weeks before Keith blew in so no weddings that I'm aware of. Perhaps our lot is still accessible by road?? We are just at the corner where the road curves to the right to go parallel to the beach just north of Malcolm (south and past the road to the dump).
