Hi All new to the board!! Was invited here by a dear friend of mine who felt I could find some interesting conversation here.'

Brief background. I am currently a soldier in the US Army deployed in Afghanistan. When I am not deployed I live and work in New York City.

I jumped on this thread cause of the obvious News Sen. McCain made today:

Well I must hand it to John McCain he did make a very interesting pick.

Sarah Palin does have solid and I mean solid Conservative credentials. And make no mistake this pick wasn't about centrist or moderates..This is what it is a straight appeal to Christian RIght hard core right wing conservative base the same people who gave us 8 years of George Bush.

She is

Pro-Guns,

Pro-life- That should go over big with the alleged 18 million Hillary voters who I am told are now in play..Hillary Clinton a champion of women's issues. Fiercely pro-choice and this is how you sway her followers? Not sure that's how you do it, but hey I'll be honest I'm a man and I didn't vote for Hillary who oh by the way many of her supporters loved her because of Hillary's experience. To quote the head PUMA herself Diane Mantovalvos "How can I vote for some who is not as qualified as Hillary Clinton?"

and Pro-Creationism....Means she believes in intelligent design which also means she believes that Dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time as man..Think the Flintstones.

She was the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska population 5400...Trivia you can put the entire population of Wasilla in Lou Carnasseca Arena on the Campus of St. John's University (Jamaica, NY)and still fit 1100 more.

Pro-Small Govt-Today by the way guys is the 3rd Anniversary of Katrina wiping out New Orleans. And we all saw how affective the stripped down FEMA was.

She advocates off shore drilling.

She hunts

Eats Moose burgers

And in terms of foreign policy...hmmm lets just say her resume is not as extensive as her running mate...nor Biden..nor Obama...Nor me...Nor my 13yo Daughter.

Shes a mom of 5 children including one with Down Syndrome so I give her credit for that. She also has a son going to Iraq...John McCain said that and the fact she was in charge of the Alaskan National Guard made her qualified to lead troops.....

That's the equivalent of me saying Barack Obama's grand father fought in WW II and Joe Biden son is going to Iraq makes them qualified to lead troops. You can take that with how many grains of salt as you may want.

Staunch supporter of President Bush and his policies. I guess the new meaning of the word "Maverick" is Any time you differ less then 100% but more then 90.

So in John McCain's eyes..nay..experienced eyes Gov Palin offered more then Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson R-Texas, Who has been in the Senate for 15 years

Or Condi Rice our current secretary of state

or Liddy Dole former secretary of labor, former secretary of Transportation and current Senator of North Carolina, whose husband is Former Presidential candidate and Former Senator Bob Dole.

And that's just the women..I didn't even mention he could have went with Colin Powell, Mitt Romney or Ron Paul (THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN MAVRICK)

So that's who just turned 72 years old today as a matter of fact (Happy Birthday!!) John McCain put one heart beat away from the White House. The former mayor of Wasilla Alaska

I guess the Obama is not ready argument went out the window today.

(trivia: John McCain will be the oldest person EVER to become president if he wins)

as a serious response to your ineptly worded question:

You're talking about an elderly presidential candidate with a history of health problems selecting as his vice president - one literally a heartbeat away from becoming president - someone who has absolutely NO experience on any national issue. NONE!! What experience she does have consists of being mayor of a town of 6,500 for a some number of months, followed by being governor of the most sparsely populated state in the union for all of 19 months.

Yet in that short period of time she’s already managed to come under investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature for allegedly ordering the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he wouldn’t fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper. If true, I’d say she wasted no time learning the ins and outs of abuse of power. Other than that, I'm just not seeing much in the way of accomplishment or education or experience. Putting someone like that in charge of the United States sounds dangerous to me. Now I recognize that some find danger exciting so there is that... smirk

Obama would not be the Democrat nominee for President were he not Black

Palin would not be the Republican nominee for Vice President were she not female

Both seem to be fine people, just not ready for prime-time. I feel Palin does have more experience than Obama, but woop-dee-daa, you also have a better chance of hitting the lottery when you buy 2 tickets instead of one.

I mourn for the state of politics in the U.S.
