Color me surprised by how upset the left is with this pick. You would think, if it's so bad, they would be overjoyed.
Hmm... Heh, heh, heh... This is from the left wing blog the Daily Kos The Sarah Quayle Palin pick is an abandonment of the "Obama is not ready to lead" attack lines. Those are dead, and to be honest, while that line didn't work for Hillary and it had limited traction for McCain, it still had some traction. That attack line is gone And many of the comments express glee he picked her.

Pro-Life, Anti-Choice, Pro-choice... all semantics. like certified pre-owned for used etc. Fact is no one knows when life begins but I like most people tend to think it begins at conception. It is a simple biological function. I also like the death penalty, we should give more of them to deserving criminals.

mikeywaz and Draven's dad -- you really believe that McCain's Vietnam-veteran status is an apples-to-apples comparison with my point? Freightening! I am no McCain fan, but methinks there is a smidge more to McCain's record. Otter the point is if he was never shot down he wouldnt have been able to use his POW status to get elected to the Senate in the first place.

Obama does not need to be arguing how important experience is. When Tim Kaine, who has exactly the same experience as Palin, was treated by the Media and the Dems as a serious and acceptable potential pick, it opens up charges of a double standard.

There are so many things that a term or phrase can mean:
When I hear anti choice, I think No freedom of choice in schools, and of California legislating against Home Schooling.
I think of The Employee Free Choice Act, which is in fact the complete opposite, and Unions taking over the Right to Work states, which are almost all Republican ones
When I hear of a woman's right to choose, I can empathize with a first trimester termination for assorted reasons, but cannot fathom drilling a hole in the skull of a live born child for any.
I cannot ever see a reason to give up my bedside .45, but cannot fathom why anyone needs an AK47 for "hunting?"
There are so many polar opposites and reaching out and working together is just a bunch of soundbite jargon between 2 differing visions of what this country should be: The 2 sides really don't like each other much and the middle ground has no representation.
As a retiree with no medical, no benefits and paying almost no taxes I could say whats in it for me and vote one way or what kind of country do I wish to grow old in and vote another.
For me its always been about the direction of the court, have I ever mentioned that?

Draven's dad -- I too thank you for your service and welcome!!
McCain's vietnam veteran status may be his "wow factor" but how is that nearly the same as being Black or female?
Case in point, were John McCain not a Vietnam veteran, his decades of service since would still stand alone -- you cannot say the same for Palin or Obama.
Based on your argument, you could just as well say "were McCain not born 72 years ago he wouldn't be running for president."
McCain could be Black, White, or Purple and still nobody would doubt his background as ample qualification -- make Obama White or Palin male and they would still be in obscurity today.
Am I missing something here???
