What if you owned the hotel in question? Would you find it offensive that someone shot down your hard work, saying that the only reason your hotel made it was because you comped the room. You're just not nice. You may think you're being cheeky, but it's petty.

In this competetive climate, good press is usually a sign of diligence and excellence.

Often businesses "comp" their services in return for advertising especially in the travel industry, I see nothing wrong with that.

It seems every time someone goes out of their way to post something of interest to those who care about the island...someone turns out being a weenie. Be grateful the article was printed on MSN news with millions of viewers. We all now know you own Matachica, and due respect, kow-tow'ing and accolades will be forthcoming from this day on.

I do not own Matachica. I've never even been there. Again, it's just really sad that the business community here is so intent on attacking one another. With H20dog's line of reasoning, unless it were his mother needing help to cross the street, he wouldn't help. Do you all belong to some exclusive clique that permits you to attack those you do not like, or do not know? And your efforts to excuse yourself by saying you were having a bad day was perceived as a feeble attempt to excuse a petty comment. Applaud Matachica for being on the list. Don't make it out that the only reason they made it was because they gave away a free room.

If you read the article, and check their link you would see that there were only 4 hotels listed for the entire country of Belize. The article was written by Shermantravel....and posted by MSN.
In this economic downturn I was pleased to see this article posted where multitudes of viewers would see it, thus encouraging tourism to Ambergris Caye.
Comp or cash buys advertising. Advertising is an important part of business. No one thinks comping is a bad thing, except maybe you.
