How about some right wing media bias? Bill O'Reilly was quick to chastise Jamie Lynn Spears' parents for their 16 year-old daughter's pregnancy. But the Palins' situation is a "personal matter"?

Unless your teen is with you 24/7 you cannot know what they are doing every second of the day.

Most teens have sex. Some get pregnant, many contract sexually transmitted diseases. Some are lucky and get through these years unscathed. Some practice safe sex. Practice being the operative word. It takes years master safe sex. But unless you are condoning a way of life where the child is under constant, responsible supervision - these things will happen.

I know what I did as a teen. And it involved many activities that my parents did not condone. Both of my parents were home during my teenage years and were very strict.

I can't imagine there is one of us on this board that is perfect.

Parenting is an individual style that each person must come to terms with. It is not a one size fits all. And then the kids throw a spanner in the works every chance they get!

The true test of parenting is being able to handle whatever is thrown at you with a level head and grace.

Some women feel that attaining positions of power or earning a high salary is the best way for them to ensure a good life for their kids. Others feel that they should stay home and be nurturing.

I believe if I was a stay at home mom my kids would be basket cases.
