A Tropic Air plane made what the company calls an emergency landing in Belize City yesterday morning. The pilot 33 year old Roy Bradley had just left the municipal airstrip and was flying four Americans to the Phillip Goldson International Airport when the engine apparently failed, onlookers said it caught on fire. He had few choices and few moments to make one. He chose to make the emergency landing, 20 feet off the coast of Belizean Beach.
I don't know them but the passenger names of David and Gay Yorke rings the bell of frequent message board posters. Glad to hear Roy the pilot did an outstanding job again, and hope all are well.
Yes, it was Gay and David of the message board. Minor cuts for Gay. David is in St. Luke's - Houston and has a broken neck. Thank God he is not paralized. Many, many prayers and thanks to God our friends are ok!
Gay woke me up this morning to fill me in. She said, "We crashed on Tropic" and I thought she said they crashed in traffic (I'm not real with it when I first wake up).
They had a great week in San Pedro and were heading home on Sunday. Their Tropic flight stopped at Municipal on the way to International. They crashed on take off. They spent Sunday in the medical facility in Belize City and came back to Houston last night via air ambulance and then regular ambulance to St. Luke's hospital.
I will let you know more when I know more. As Debbie said, thank God David is not paralized but his left hand/arm is numb.
