By the time everyone has done sniping at each other a new vet will probably be in place. Sheesh. I agree with Lara and bcm that it was a little strange to remove someone from such an important position without having an immediate replacement, but we don't (and won't) know the details of what transpired. Thank Heather for her services and drop in on SAGA to offer some help and just leave it at that.
Hope all is stable with your cat at least until the new vet arrives. It's hard to lose them, and the possibility of not having a humane option to help them out would be horrible. Wishing the best for you.

Does anyone who is the "know" have any idea of when the replacement vet will arrive? I have a couple of dogs, one of which is too large to crate and get on the water taxi to the city, that need some treatment. No attack on anyone. Just need to know for the sake of my dogs.
On another note, Heather was always very nice and helpful to my pets. I wish the best for her.

I think a lot of people would like to know the whole story. I have used Dr. Shelia when she was coming here once a week and I was very happy when Dr. Heather came here full time. Of course I heard the nasty rumors at the bar today and I’m sure they will spread rapidly. I hope Heather is still on the island and I would like to have the opportunity to sit down and talk to her. Also, I know that Simon says (sounds funny eh?) that he is no longer on the board. How can we go about finding out that is? Just because people are asking questions does not mean they are casting dispersions.

I agree - but we won't be told. Unfortunately that means that rumours, false or otherwise, will spread instead - I've already heard some of them. I believe openness is better in the long run.
Regardless of what happenned Heather did an outstanding job for us on multiple emergencies over the past years. If you are reading this Heather a big thank you for the multiple times you literately saved my dear Karmin. Hard to think about this however without you I question if Karmin would be here and the healthy girl she is today. No matter what the "personality clashes" as stated may have been Heather was excellent and always went beyond her job working extended hour for numerous emergencies. Things happen for a reason and I'm sure something even more rewarding is ahead for you. Thank you and I wish you the very best. Hugs from both Karmin and I.
Presumably Heather's plans to take up a research post in New Zealand are unchanged, just (maybe) brought forward a bit. I think she's a superb vet and I'm sorry to see her go, but I'm sure she'll do well "down under". Best wishes for the future, Heather.
That's terrific if this is what she decides to pursue. New Zealand, how wonderful! Hope to hear a wonderful update soon of where life takes you Heather. Agreed she was a superb vet! Beyond any I've ever had in the US. Lots of success and happiness ahead girl!
I agree, One of the first times I met her was when I brought in a 5' boa I found on the side of the road. She actually dropped everything and took the time to try and save its life. I liked her from that moment.
Good luck Heather, I hope you will be moving on to bigger and better. My pups will certainly miss you and your beefy log.
