Janie, it seems no matter how many times you point that out, there are still complaints. wink Ever wonder why that is?

LA - You - I like and we have never met - but you are dangerous (Imagine me as Val Kilmer in Top Gun - hell imagine me as Val Kilmer in anything, LMAO) We have different views, but we are more similar than the average person would guess. We both belive in some articulate ideas and I appreciate your side. Doesn't mean I agree, but that's what I like about you. We don't have to agree, just agree to disagree. (Yes - I stole that) I might be coerced into contributing to the deliquency of your drinking habit. But, that's me, always looking to have fun during my down time. During business hours I have made even the most seasoned IRS agent cower. Yes I am a # cruncher, with an attitude and tat's. Not your average, never will be, never wanna be. I am me.

LA, if this isn't too 'folksy' for you, I know you are an intelligent and educated person. That being said, you've seen painting by, for instance, Monet. Know how he does the dots that just look like dots until you step back and widen your focus? Then you see this beautiful (in the eye of the beer-holder)scene of a beach or a boat on the water? Just my opinion, and you have me on the number of years or education, but when you need every single detail to the gnats arse degree to be in hard, verifiable, proven, repeatable data, all you see is dots. Take a sip of wine, and step back. It's a lovely ride.

I feel no guilt at all. I use what I need, and I give what I can. I think that the US gives far more than other countries and we could all pull out stats to prove our positions. Like someone smart said, "Lies, damned lies and statistics"*

*"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is part of a phrase attributed to Benjamin Disraeli and popularised in the United States by Mark Twain: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." The statement refers to the persuasive power of numbers, the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments, and the tendency of people to disparage statistics that do not support their positions.

I have learned that I need to be extremely factual, so I checked my quote.

Back to the point of the post, I am proud that I'm from the US, and anyone that isn't doesn't have to be. You can even look down your nose at me, it's been done before. I'm pretty sure that they don't stop us when we leave the country, at least they've never stopped me. Then again, they always let me back in. For any of you that want to be ashamed, guilty or feel dirty because you are from the US, okay. I just don't get it. We're the first one that everyone looks to for help, and they get it too, before they ask, friend or foe...but I can't document that...I just know it because I took a nice long draw of fine Kentucky Bourbon, and stepped back. The view is great! C'mon back!

SJ - I know, I know. This sub-topic was not created until today, but you are a regular and you know what I meant and you participate in the forums. I think my point is clear. If you want to divert, go to a suitable thread, otherwise what's the point of having a topic line? Just have one big political, I'm right - you're wrong thread. Poor Dutch, just trying to be fun.

How about I start a thread on riding Harley's. Before the end of the day it would be about capitalism of the original founders going public to save the company from ruin, ivory towers because of all the Rubbies (Rural urban bikers), McCain imperilism for supporting countries competing against US bike companies, Obama hating bikers (but his cousin used to be a biker), Hillary wishing she could meet some female bikers, Palin killing a moose attacking a biker, the monetary system failing because bikers are paying WAY too much for parts, and the high rate of feministic views in bars frequented by bikers (Called titty bars in Texas) I crack myself up again!!!! (Hope this isn't HI-JACKED)

Pug - You must be LYAO in San Pedro right now. Have one for me - no matter what it is!

Laugh out loud and repeat after me - It's only a mesage board, it's only a message board.....

ROFLMAO!!! Man, you guys are good! (and no, I didn't spew my drink) YET>>> Sigh...
All this is fun and more... we are NOT running for office, (but I might be running for the bathroom in a bit)
Lets face it.. we ALL love the USA... we ALL have our own opinions on everything from patriotisim to prolapse....we ALL have a sense of humor...(or some more than others) and we all love the fact that not matter what we do or what we say, something will either get misinterpreted or the thread will get hijacked..
BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POST.... (bowing head, taking off hat and putting hand over heart (yes, I DO have one) repeat after me.... or don't) I Pledge my allegience... etc...come on.. you DO know the rest don't you??
With Liberty and JUSTICE FOR ALL!!!!! PLAY BALL!!!!! (ooops wrong thread)
