Hello, my wife and I are regular vacationers to San Pedro, and this next spring we want to spend a couple of nites on Caye Caulker. Any suggestions to a clean, cheap place on or near the beach? We love Rubys in SP, so obviously a 5 star is not needed. As long as we can sleep after midnight or so, and have a hot private shower, its all good.

Hi Mike,
I stay with Louise Aguilar at Hotel Maxhapan. The place is nice, relatively new, and well appointed with A/C, dining area with mini-fridge and other nice touches. It's Toucan Trail approved, as well, so the prices are in the Ruby's category.

I stay at Leeside. Close to town, great diving next door at BZE dive service, and great accomodations. Check it out!

Leeside is a great place - I second that.

Email Bobby at Caye Accomodations - she manages a nice mix of places - from small private homes to luxury beach front rooms.

Amanda does the same thing - but mainly focuses on private homes:

Also check out Kim & Susan at Barefoot Beach:

Two other nice places near the split:

Mara's
