It's all hopeless. I cashed out all my accounts and have invested in Star Wars figures. Does anyone have the Darth Vader with the lightsaber?

ernie, there is a lot of support at 7500 next is 6500. I was hoping that 8,000 would hold but who knows. Once the election gets settled maybe things will calm down a little. We are going into the favorable season and October has been a month for the trend to reverse. There is a lot of blood in the streets and this will not repair in a short time.

E- I predicted the 7,000's and you scoffed at me! And gold to $1,200. Bobber, I bailed last year at 14,000, whew! The Dow will settle in about 9,000 next year.
Here are some plays.
DVN-Energy stock
CPTC-wind and transmission lines
DRKOF-oil field in Wyoming
You may compensate me with a One Barrel in November!

DVN down big today , but the April 70 calls were at $14.90?

A 31% move just to be "in the money?".....I'll pass on that one for a while!

I've been in and out of .wmtcx 2 1/2 times in the last 2 weeks: Each time the market bounces it's good for 20-30% and no matter how poor we get, it stays the store of choice?

Niemans shoppers may head to somewhere a little less glitzy, but where do you go after Walmart?

ernie, I'm not very interested in Gold. Unless you happened to buy in the last few years it hasn't been much of a long term investment. Options I usually stay away from. Hard to figure what is going to happen LT without a time limit. Stocks I've had mixed results with. No load mutual funds and ETF's seem to do fine for an average investor like me. Most of my home runs where real estate. Especially large lots (for a city) that I bought in the 70's.

Hopefully we are at or near a bottom. I will do OK and my life will not be affected but some people near or going into retirement like me are going to be hurt real bad if this continues.

Ragman, if you can, hold your real estate. I got out of the market at 10.5, "stupid is as stupid does". I sold my real estate investments three years ago, did well. I will buy more in the next month because the bottom is there in real estate.
Good Luck to you.

Rag/Bush. I have been in and out of gold, silver and copper for several years and still a rookie, but have done pretty good, no loses (minor dip in silver). I have been retired for several years and any risk I take must be very low. I know, low risk, low return. Im comfortable with that.

There is nothing that exposes someone as a fraud as much as when they actually make something up and post it as "fact"

It would be like me posting this and representing that Bit*hmatic had written it himself

Warren Buffett Buy Signal
In a New York Times OpEd article today, Warren Buffett says he is moving from US Treasuries to US Stocks now. I pay attention to what Buffett has to say.

Buffett wrote that his personal portfolio that was not in Berkshire Hathaway stock was in "nothing but United States government bonds" before this decision to buy stocks now.

So ... I’ve been buying American stocks. This is my personal account I’m talking about, in which I previously owned nothing but United States government bonds. (This description leaves aside my Berkshire Hathaway holdings, which are all committed to philanthropy.) If prices keep looking attractive, my non-Berkshire net worth will soon be 100 percent in United States equities."

Good luck Otter and TQ... go for it.

Me, at 61, don't have enough time to play with. I'm like Bobber, et al and got out back in the spring. When with Equity Indexed Annunities with all but my 401K and it is in "Stable Funds" (the only one in Principal's entire line of choices that has actually made money this year.) I am now UP over $30USD for the year... Wow!!!

I hope everyone is not sitting on the sidelines too long: there has been some serious money made in the last few days, and sitting watching does not get you any of it!

Between 10/23 and 10/29 I was able to make a net 46% return on a play that is now closed out and the money banked, and I told many of you about it before I opened the position!

I was then chastised by a friend of all of us for "making money off THAT company!"...Go figure smile

My opinion is that the best solution to the financial crisis in the US can be solved by "Oscar Rogers", the financial consultant who appears on Weekend Update on SNL......

Tirade (tired ass nonsense) is one thing, but investment savvy is another, Jesse. Pugworsh may have bugged the hell out of you, but his investment plan paid off! When the market is down, (like Otter says) buy, buy, buy!

May I suggest some reading material for you... "Investments for Dummies" Chapter one, page one.
