Yes there are lots of bars in Sanpedro that sell beer, or you can go to the distributor and buy your beer it is a lot cheaper than the bars. If you are going to drink a lot of beer you can buy/rent mini kegs at the distributors.

Many bars have regular Belikin on tap. The treat is when a bar has Stout or Light House or both on tap. I enjoy regular draft at Island Perk, Playa (they have Stout too), Fidos, Bayside, Tackle Box. Riverside Tavern in Belize City and the Barrier Reef Sports Bar in Caye Caulker are the only two bars I know of that have all three beer regularly (on tap). Bottles of regular beer are available everywhere.

Beer is way more expensive per drink than local rum - most of the happy hour specials are based on local rum rather than beer.

Coldest beer is at Pedros Inn!!!

Mr. Joe's store 2.5 mi south, coldest beer in town. You have to pry the bottles from each other in the old Coke style open top cooler. Ohhh, can't wait for January.

Okay maybe someone can help with this question. Sorry if it is too far off topic...but it is a beer topic, nonetheless.

My brother is a brewer. He would like to come to Belize and set up a microbrew and sell his wares out of a storefront bar.

In June when I was in Belize, I nosed around a bit and was told that Sir Barry had a monopoly on beer manufacture, and that some time ago he had legislation introduced such that he is the sole allowable manufacturer of beer.

Is this a yarn? even plausible? or can a micro brewery actually be a legal establishment in Belize?

This is great news for beer drinkers. It appears that the Prime Minister doesn't believe in free trade. I would agree that protectionism makes sense in some circumstances, perhaps where it relates to development of natural resources, but not with beer. I've never thought that Belikin was overpriced, but some competition may take the price lower.

I don't drink heinies or red stripe but I'm very happy to hear the GOB is going to do the right thing, even if it took the threat of a lawsuit to do it. I wonder how many Caricom countries sell Belikin at a fair price?

Can you buy Belikin's beer in the US, I know i had it the last time i was in Belize 5 years ago but can,t remember what it was like. what other beer compare's to the taste ( If Any Compare )

Its a lot stronger in taste and alcohol content then US beer,IMO tastes a lot like canadian beer(Molson products).

I drink Bush beer here 3 or 4 % alcohol i think, last time i had Molson it was there ice beer felt bad for 2 days afterwards. What is the alcohol content of Belikin's.

Most Canadian beer is 5%, Molson Ice is 6.1%.

I believe that Belikin regular is 5 percent, stout is 6 percent, lighthouse ??.

I have never found a US beer that actually tasted good, tried a lot of them but they don't measure up to canadian or belezian brew.(IMHO)

I like the fact that the bear is so light in Belize. Perfect for the climate, in my opinion. I also enjoyed the taste of Belikin in all of its forms. Wish I could get some up here!

no one said stop making the beers that the locals love. btb is always trying to get more visitors down there, and visitors keep asking if there's a good sipping beer. it dont have to be a fancy unfiltered wheat - just have belikin add a tasty Sol type summer blonde (goes down easy, a gringo can sip em all day = $$ for belikin. ex - Imperial beer in costa rica is kick-ass at US $1.10) to the current roster. win-win.

it'd be cool...IN MY OPINION, for the local brew company to add another to its lineup. there wouldnt be anything taken away from whats going on locally but instead adding something for different tastes. if you make more people happy then you have better buisness and then everyone can be a pig in shit together : )

How did Guiness get in there? I don't want to see the same old thing when I am in another country. I enjoyed the Belikin. Was it the best beer I have had? No. But it was damn fine sitting there on the beach, a bar stool or on our balcony. It was part of it. If you don't like it, move on to the rum. I certainly wouldn't haul a case of Belikins back like one boarder I know.
I even have a Belikin bottle here that I put mopping sauce or grill seasonings in when I am creating. Carbunkle, you and Chunky need one! I'll come test the results (wink, wink) Quality control purposes only.

Guiness is brewed under licence by Belikin.

We also have Dragon Stout and Stud Stout

well boozing isnt really even my thing anyways so all i can say for now is that i cant wait to take my first sip of a Belikin.

Given that there are 8 pages of beer talk in just a few hours, my guess is that the average emotional age is much lower than the average physical age.

Well the dragon stout is to sweet for my taste, brewed in Jamaica as well, but it has a kick..7.5 percent. Belikin stout is hard to beat. The guiness brewed here in Belize is also much better then the Guiness I just drank in Canada, but in my opinion the Belikin stout still wins out.

"Beer" its not just a breakfast drink ya know.

Yes I have, everyone of them have a different taste, I drink the stout but will take a premium over a regular and just do not like lighthouse.

Anyone on here old enough to remember Charger beer from back in the 70's to maybe early 80's? Could not reach the bar back then (dad loved it) but others said it was by far preferable to Belikin. Still enjoy a good stout though myself....

I remember Charger from my early days here. Was followed for a brief period by a beer called Schuster, which rumour had it was made by the Mennonites. Can't vouch for the authenticity of that fact. Schuster only seemed to be available in a few bars in Belize City, I never saw it anywhere else.

This was all prior to Belikin getting a German beer meister in the mid 1980s, which resulted in a great improvement.

Pre beer meister, British Forces proverb: When the bottom falls out of your world, drink Belikin, and the world will fall out of your bottom !!

I'm an advid beer drinker and I do enjoy Belikin's. Latitude changes the attitude! Just serve it coldddddddddddddddddddddddd!

One of the best beers I've ever had was called Budweiser.

Brewed in Pilsen in the Czech Republic, the original from which the gnat's pee with the same name in the US was derived.

After the Great Britain Beer Festival, in London, all the brewery presidents decided to go out for a beer.
The guy from Corona sits down and says, "Hey Senor, I would like the world's best beer, a Corona." The bartender dusts off a bottle from the shelf and gives it to him.

The pics are of Antigua at Half Moon bay. Beautiful natural cove/bay and beach. More gorgeous stretches of sand there: Valley Church Beach, Dawn, Hawksbill or Seagrape, Dickenson Bay. So many beautiful beaches(but could not hit them all). That is one of the reasons we can't wait to experience Belize!

And in one more bit of House news, the Customs and Excise Duties Amendment Bill was passed in the House today. This implements the CARICOM external tariff and will lower the tax on beer imported from the Caribbean make it so that Heineken brewed in St. Lucia and Belikin brewed in Belize should sell for about the same price. Red Stripe and Carib which come from more developed CARCIOM countries will be considerably cheaper, but slightly more expensive than Belikin. The law goes into effect on August first.

I know you must be excited about the Red Stripe Light!
