This is a shout out to anyone who may be coming to San Pedro soon from the USA. I should specify that the Southern USA would be preferable. I am trying to stem a shortage of grits in my household. I know many don't understand why anyone would like grits, but for those of us who do, they are an ultimate comfort food. Especially cooked with heaps of cream and fried shrimp or with half a pound of cheddar cheese......umm...I am digressing.

If any of you kind souls who are heading down here can find some room for grits in their luggage, I would be happy to reward them with their costs (flight and hotel not included) and a Belikin thank you.

Colly, I feel your pain! I moved to Minnesota 15 years ago from Atlanta, GA. I couldn't get grits until just recently unless I had care packages sent from friends and family remaining in GA. Wish I was headed down soon so I could help with your plea.

And as for pug...Who would want to trade?????? I'd keep the grits!!

Are grits like polenta? I am the polenta master and will make it for anyone anytime.

Hon, grits are coarser than polenta, but very similar!! Corn meal rules (when properly prepared and flavored)!!

make extra, and then put the leftover in a loaf pan. Let it set up, and slice it and fry it the next day, with syrup. OMG!!

Syrup? Do you make yours with garlic, onions and basil...so savory stuff? That's how I make my polenta and I don't think it would go with syrup.
