have you ever seen anything like this before?
I was told today that bots are the reason were asked to type what we see in a box (those wacky letters and numbers) to register accounts, because the bots can't see it and it means your a person.
they can be programed to go out an register for accounts and even vote in elections if measures like this 'wacky box' aren't in place.

it was si-fi in 1968 when 2001 Space Odyssey came out.

this program has a number of pat answers programmed. "Talk" to it long enough and it will start repeating answers. Ask a detailed question and you will get a very generalized response like "That's a very interesting question." Sorry, not impressed.

Sort of like that 8 ball you ask a question of then turn upside down for a random answer to float to the top?

yes, I see a pattern, a series of pre-programmed responses could masquerade as intelligence if the responses are convoluted enough.
