Spent the weekend on Caye Caulker and these are my observations after not having been here for one year:

1. The East beach has eroded another five to ten feet, even as rolling waves from Hurricane Paloma came washing ashore ensuring even more erosion. Hopefully the BTB will take some of that tax money and replenish the beach.

2. Caye Caulker is bustling. It did not appear to be dead or even slow as I saw people walking around everywhere.

3. There is a lot of new construction happening on the island. People keep moving to Caye Caulker to live but most new construction is for overnight rentals, so there is a chronic shortage of long term rentals.

I will post more later, as I have to run to catch my flight.

Cheers,
Wendy
