Some buddies and I would like to venture into Placencia and look for some extreme diving. Any ideas?

I'd ask some of the dive shops at: http://AmbergrisCaye.com/diving/

and maybe some of the charter boats like Roberto of the Winnie Estelle or Peter of Reef Crawl

Ideas about what? The best dive operations in Placencia are probably Seahorse, Rum Point and Robert's Grove. Diving off Placencia is good, though it's a fairly long boat ride to the reef, which is 15+ miles out. Placencia is not something you can easily do if your base is San Pedro.

Diving in the Placencia is the absolute best,
especially if you are able to get out to the
barrier reef.

The southern end of the reef is Fantastic. It
is about an hours boat ride from Placencia but if your e-mail handle is correct this should not be a problem.

The southern end of the reef is called the Sapodilla Cayes.

Try

Brian Young at Seahorse Dive shop in Placencia Village.

George Bevier At Rum Point Divers just north
of the village.

Roberts Grove also just north of the village.

Ben Routi at Nauti 1 Dive Shop (Nautical Inn)in Seign Bite.

I recently dove with Hamanasi in Hopkins Villge, a little north of Placentia. In my opinion the southern reef offers better reef diving than AC. You'll see far fewer other divers. However Turneffe and Lighthouse are closer to AC. Tough choice, have fun!

I've heard of some limestone caves under Caye Caulker that a few people have disappeared diving into...you want 'extreme', that's about as 'extreme' as it gets!!!
