Mata Rocks is nice, but the sea directly offshore is very shallow there, with lots of sea grass. You also need to be very aware of potential boat traffic wherever you swim. Swimming would be easier a bit up the beach at Banyan Bay Hotel, but you could still stay at MR and walk up there - it's only a few minutes' stroll.

June is a very good month weather-wise. Not as blisteringly hot as it gets later on, but well past the windy season and before any significant rains come (in both cases, usually - weather patterns have been rather strange lately).

Welcome in advance!

The beach off Ramon's is very nice and I swim both off the shore and off the pier there.

Mata Rocks is a great place to stay. It is a fairly small resort but with a very friendly staff that makes you feel like part of the family.

Great owners, who will go out of their way to help you with anything you need. Wonderful beach bar.

We have been going there for the last ten years and still love it.

The water in front is quite shallow and there is a fair amount of turtle grass, but as others have said it is only a short walk to other swimming locations. It is located just far enougth south of town as far as we are concerned. You can walk or bike into Town with no problem or take a cab - whichever is your choice.

Very important to remember (particulary after the mandatory Belikin stops) that its "right foot in the water - going into Town and left foot in the water going "home"".

You will have a great time no matter where you decide to stay, enjoy your trip.
