Amigos Del Mar did great by me and they have been rated #1 consistantly by Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine.
Of course I haven't heard anything bad about any of the dive ops on the island.
Have a great trip!

I've been to A/C twice and going again in January. I dive with Hustler's. Billy Leslie runs a good operation -- all native Belizians. Ched is my favorite dive master. However, I prefer Amigos for the trip to Turneffe. I did one with Martin Leslie of Hustler's and the 2nd one with Amigos. If Martin is still running it this year we will again go with Amigos. I'm bringing at least 8 people down in mid January and we stay at the Tradewinds.
I LOVE SAN PEDRO!

I would add that among our readers Amigos del Mar gets the most positive comments. But then we rarely get seriously negative comments about any of the dive operations on the island.

My vote is also Amigos Del Mar. A first rate operation.....caters to serious divers....as well as beginners. Good equipment and boats!

Yeah, I agree about Amigos for the Blue Hole and Southern trips...for local reef dives, you can't beat Chedd for finding a spot you haven't seen before. He knows that reef like the back of his hand, and he's a marine ecology buff as well...ask him about the diver that made him spit-out his regulator laughing! I beleive it was a green tourniquet...

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE FOR THE INFO. LOOKS LIKE AMIGOS GOT EVERYONE'S VOTE. I DOVE WITH RAMON'S ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO AND THAT WAS A GREAT DIVE SHOP. BUT WITH STAYING AT PARADISE VILLAS THE WALK WOULD BE A LIITLE FAR. WE ARE GOING DOWN IN THREE WEEKS AND I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET WET AGAIN. BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE BY LAST DIVEING TRIP. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR NEW YEARS EVE. THE GROUP I'M WITH LIKES TO PARTY HARD.

Well, they are both(Hustler's & Amigos Del Mar) almost directly in front of the hotel. If you want to get to the main drag or the Island Grocery, it's a 5 minute walk down the beach in either direction; food, bars discos, etc...and a short stagger home.
Just a suggestion, and only one man's opinion: I'd stay away from Aqua Dives, if they still exist. No need to regale you with colorful stories, but I'm a stickler for detail when I dive...'nuff said!
Have a blast!
