We will be in A.C. Jan 8-18. So looking forward to the trip,....have been all about the Caribbean but never to Belize. Love to snorkel and are planning on trying all the highlights but was wondering if there are any good places to snorkel from shore? We will be staying at the Mayan Princess and it looks to be a really busy area. Have been watching these boards for months and have gotten so much information,..thanx to all

The sea in front of Mayan Princess has quite a bit of boat traffic so you must be very careful of that, but theres some nice snorkling around and under the docks, especially away from the town center. Try Ramons dock. Be sure to go on a Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley snorkle trip... its a MUST!

Thanx Jesse,....we plan on doing Hol Chan, Shark Ray Alley, and Mexico Rocks. Didn't know if we could just go for a little snorkel dip anywhere. May try diving but if not is the blue hole worth it for snorkelers? Also,...what about the day trips to Caye Caulker? Have been watching these boards for months getting ideas,....It's cold here and I'm ready for BLUE WATER.

There's a long wooden pier(100yds.) with a palapa roof(probably missing after Keith) down by the Lion's Park, about 1 1/2 miles south of town...it's ideal distance for a bike-ride. It used to be a favorite getaway for me when I lived there, because nobody shows up. The water is about 8 ft. at the deepest, maybe 100 or so ft. away from the dock, and the boats, what few come into San Pedro stay about 500yds. offshore...

Amigos Del Mar Dock right next to the Mayan Princess has great snorkeling for a refreshing dunk in the water. The swim area is safe from boat traffic. Also Ramon's and Victoria House Docks usually have something to see (and cold refreshments!). You can walk the beach and snorkel off almost any dock you'd like.
Belize it!
