I was very upset to see the thread about the assult on my friend Val gone. But maybe I understand, I have many friends on CC, and many are in the tourist industry, so maybe it is ok. This was a VERY rare incident on the island. But I have never tolerated people f***ing with my friends. The law has them, or him; it's just that I'm still pissed!!!
And as my friend Carlos always says,"It is PARADISE, but it isn't Heaven, so lock your doors at night" and whenever not in sight of the door!

Dan, I can totally understand and empathize with how you must feel right now. We had a similar story that happened to some friends on the mainland last year, and the outcome was tragic.

Yes this is a story that one would not have expected to hear about in Caye Caulker. You may remember that San Pedro hadn't seen any of that type of violent crime until the early '90's.

It is good for us to caution folks to be alert and aware of surroundings and situations.

I think the thread was most likely removed due to its title rather than the majority of the content.

I hope your friend and her companion are on the mend and that Caye Caulker will begin to heal its wounds after this terrible incident.

Of course this tends to be a website that promotes tourism and travel to Belize and as such we try to keep a positive spin flowing - especially during these bleak economic times.
