I hope Tia reads this thread. There are alot of 30-something single white women who vacation in the islands looking to have a fling with a black man. It's the old "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" routine, so don't be too hard on the guys that are just giving the girls what they want. The prelevance of HIV in Belize makes this extremely dangerous. This might be fodder for another column.

Moose - you are right - but . . . there are others who think they are signing on for a long term relationship and are fools. There was a gal, singer songwriter, who played at Fido's for about a week. One of her songs was "Island Boy Want's to Marry Me."
We all see the posts from these poor souls asking for advise.
What about men coming down here looking for romance?
Is this wonderful writer our Mary with the San Pedro Sun?

I think Rastatution is a "career" for some of these guys. There's really nothing anyone can tell the women to change their minds. I am always mindful enough to suggest the full body condom however.
aww...shucks...glad you guys like it! I am enjoying this writing business, and am getting quite a bit of feedback. Thanks for reading! Moose...I am keeping your comments in mind!
I too enjoy reading her column, she has agreat writing style and definitely sassy. I have to say that House Hunters episode spawned a lot of the same comments sitting stateside in the living room between my wife and I. My wife went as far to say as she did not deserve to live in a place like Belize, and no we do not have a third attached bathroom either....
Phew, am glad I wasn't the only one who thought so... DOA - your wife is so right! Some people just don't know to appreciate what they have. Oh my goodness I was so mad when I finished watching that episode. I thought it was just the irate Belizean in me, but I've watched previous episodes and it was her problem indeed. Grrr...still pisses me off!
fantastic column - very fun to read. Hope perhaps get to meet you down Tia down the road.
Cheers from smoky, on fire (literally) Kelowna BC (actually the fire is across the bridge thank heavens). Pretty huge though and lots of people are still evacuated.
