i was stuck in a dr's office waiting room last week, and read this short story by pj o'rourke. he was on a trip to hong kong with his kids. i thought this excerpt said a lot:
An ad for Hong Kong Disneyland caught Poppet's eye. She gasped with excitement.
"No!" I gasped back. "We went to Disney World back home. You didn't even like it."
"But Dad," said Muffin, "this time would be different. See, we fly a million miles, all the way around to the other side of the world. And then we go to someplace that's exactly the same. That would be so cool."
And the entire travel and tourism industry has been explained in three sentences by a ten-year-old.
