The official inauguration ceremony of the Southern Rehabilitation Project took place on Friday, February 13 on Coconut Drive between Island Academy and the San Pedro Distributors where Mr. Omar Mitchell had the privilege of being the master of ceremony for the event.

The welcome address was delivered by Mayor Elsa Paz who stressed on how much improvement has been done under the UDP term and that much more can be achieved if re-elected, as the progress will be kept alive.

Father Daniel Nuez gave the invocation after which Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation addressed the crowd followed by the official vote of thanks speech delivered by Councilor Juan Alamilla. Many thanks were given to the San Pedro Business Association for lobbying for this project to become a reality as well as to Hon. Heredia, the San Pedro Town Council and Mr. David Medina for having accomplished this project.

The official blessing of the road was done by Father Daniel Nuez and the ribbon cutting was done by Mayor Elsa Paz, Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr. and Mr. Efrain Guerrero Sr. After the formalities, refreshments were served.

It's not proposed it's finished. It's now cobbled all the way from Town to Victoria House.

Oh. I guess I had it confused with another proposed road to divert some of the traffic from the highly congested road by the airport, and give residents of the lagoon area (not sure of the name) a shorter commute. Does that sound familar to anyone? I wish I could remember the details.

The road you are thinking of runs along the west side of the airstrip and around the south end to connect in San Pablo. It is (was) under construction but last word was it was delayed waiting for OKs from Belmopan.
