Has anyone used Southern Horizons Travel??? Any feedback? Or, should I just work with the hotels/airlines myself to put together a package for myself and a few friends? Also, anyone know of a good cheap air fare "deal" via Indianapolis/Belize City? Thanx!

I like making my own arrangements. Some people don't enjoy that. San Pedro/A/C has the best websites I have ever found. I have arranged 3 trips there, simply using the Internet.
You can fly through Miami, Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth. I shop the airlines on line too. I found some incredible airfares for some of the folks going with me this January.
If you are more specific about what you are looking for I know you will get good feedback.
Good luck

Thanx Harriette! My husband and I were @ Ramon's in 1994. We're dying to get back, and are encouraging 3 or 4 friends to join us. I'm thinking about Sun Breeze, with a day trip to Maruba (w/spa treatments), etc.; I've been in contact w/a few properies as well as Southern Horizon ... all of which have offered to 'put a package together' - I guess I'll try to do my own! One of my concerns was getting decent airfare, although I was referred to Exito for cheap rates. Don't know about them either - have you heard? We'll be flying from Indianapolis via Houston - October 2001.

We have used Exito twice - they are a reputable operation. They always beat the airlines' published fares.

We recommend getting the cheapest air fare you can, then book the rest off the websites.

It sounds like you already have your tickets to Belize City. Is that right?
If you are more specific about what you want - bedroom/hotel room/ upscale/budget, etc? you will get excellent input from this group.
Marty has given you some very good websites. I absolutely love going into the various web pages through the link below my name. I find the research half the fun. I just get so excited looking at the beautiful pictures. I have found all the facilities respond quickly to e-mail.
For upscale I like to stay at the Tradewinds (pool, TV, bedroom, kitchen, etc.) For budget we will stay at Lily's. Mr. Felipe Paz has been very good at answering all my questions and helping with a problem.
Personally, I don't "book" side trips until I get there. You will have more help than you can handle. ENJOY!

Okay, Friends. No, I don't have tickets yet. I've been in touch with several "agencies", as well as Barb, who I has been enormously helpful. However, the sites are fun & informative. My husband and I have been down before, but we went with a group, and that was the pits. This time ... VIVA AMBERGRIS!

Someone here told me about Mars Travel Agency, I think in Houston. They were great and beat all the prices, even priceline.com. However, you do need to ask for an English speaking agent. They got us a good $50 off even the cheapest fares. They have an 800 number. Good luck.

we are discussing them right now on the chat room - all seem to agree - best fares.

We just booked airfare to Belize from Newark, New Jersey from 11/20/01 - 11/27/01. Four of us are going, and Exito had the best fare - $550 each including tax. Neither priceline or hotwire.com (nor travel agents or airlines) could beat it for those dates.
