I was wondering if anyone can provide me with information regarding taking medication into the country. Are most medications available OTC or do you need prescriptions. Also, if you have a US prescription can you fill it there or is it better to fill in the US. Are there limits to how much can be imported and how do you find out such information. thanks

You can fill US prescriptions in San Pedro if the products are available if not Belize City should have most but not all name brands, more generic. I think you won't have trouble if they bring medication in with them, importing is a different question and we'd have to ask customs about that.

As long as your meds are in a marked prescription bottle, with doctors name, dose, your name, etc. you won't have a problem. It's the loose pills that may upset them. Many of the medications that are prescription in the US are over the counter in San Pedro. I saw some pediatric antibiotics over the counter there. I was impressed with the amount of things available. (My son got very sick when we were there. The doctor was fabulous and VERY reasonable. I was so relieved.)

My wife got sick once and Dr. Rodriguez was fabulous. Ath the Lions Clinic.

Where else can you go at 7am on Sunday morning and see the doc with 5 minutes notice, then get all your meds and plus see the doc for $40.

Never seen that kind of care in the US.

Concerning the medications, what kind are available OTC. I know that when I spent some time in Mexico I didn't have to worry about bringing in prescriptions since most were sold OTC, for example antibiotics, allergy medications and even some antianxiety prescriptions. Is this the same case in Belize. I am just trying to figure out what medications I would have to bring with me. Thanks.

with everything and drugs, came to $100 +.
