I am interested in moving down to the island for a while and was wondering if anyone can give me information about nice rentals that rent for month periods and price ranges. I have a name for one realty company. But I was wondering the best way to secure housing, should I do it before I come or wait until I get down there. I heard that some resorts rent out on long term basis. Also do you know what kind of ammenities these have. I don't require much. Electricity, water, phone and (preferable and ac unit, or at least fans). Also preferable furnished. How does one also go about setting up internet service and phone (who should I contact to find out about rates and all). My last question is what is the price range for apartments/ houses that are rented on long term basis. Thanks so much

Your looking at between 500.00 to 900.00US for a place with A/C and furnished. This time of year you won't need A/C, but most Gringos require it after Febuary. Phone and Internet are available but be patiet on getting decent service. The cost is much higher than US. BTL is under fire right now, but it doesn't seem to do any good. I'd come for a couple of weeks first and check it out. This place is not for everyone as a place to live. It's kind of a big loony bin. Vacation is one thing, living here is quite another. Good luck.
