This is our first time to Caye Caulker. Is there beach chairs that can be rented at the Split?

All ya need is a towel to lay on the concrete, there really isn't any beach at the split.
They have 2 picnic tables in the water.

There are a few loungers at the Lazy Lizard along the edge of the cut.

Re'Belize N Us,,In The past and probably now you could rent beach chairs right down the road from Tsunami Tours, as well as snorkels and mask etc. but as J Dog said you dont really need them,,,please get to know your Island a bit more as future residents before you just say NO,,,,,

That wasn't the question.

The question was...."are there chairs for rent at the split?".

The answer is a simple......no.

Simple question, simple answer.

The question wasn't about "the past" or "chairs right down the road" or "snorkels and masks".

Please get to know someone a bit more before just telling telling them what to post:-)

I love the split. My response was not an insult to the location. I'm confused as to why you seem to have taken it that way.

No one is telling you what one can or can't say, and no offence was intended of course, you're well-meaning, but writing "NO" in caps, with no punctuation and no further elaboration was definitely off-putting and I thought so when I read it (I didn't know chairs could be rented at all). The furthest thing from my mind was that you were maligning the Split. I thought it was a rude reply - just my opinion.

Relying on semantics and what the question actually was won't really save the day and strikes me as a bit arrogant. A long-time resident is able to supply alternatives, experience and information, even if it means straying a few streets off topic, and thereby be helpful even if it means not strictly answering the question posed. I doubt Cooper felt you were insulting the split either.

I'll be careful about my "caps" from now on.

I guess the message board politically correct response would have been "no".

I didn't realize that "no" required further elaboration in order to considered "non-rude".

I considered myself to be gracious, not "arrogant", by providing the correct answer to the question.

You "non-arrogant" posters sure seem quick to shake a finger in other "arrogant" posters direction while standing inside your glass houses. Please be careful stepping down from your soap box.

I seem to remember a conversation along these same lines a few months ago.

Ha ha, I guess we all have to be PC on our PC.

True, true!

Question: Can one rent chairs at the split?

Correct answer: No.

Message board correct answer to insure that no one gets offended:

"No, but gosh wouldn't it be great if you could? I LOVE the split dispite it's lack of rental chairs. I surely hope that you will NOT let this lack of chair rental deter you from visiting this wonderful site in tropical paradise! I'm sure there are long term residents who post on this board that know sooooo much more than I. Please forgive me if my response is the least bit incorrect. Thank you for allowing me to post my answer on this message board."

How'd you guess?

Tornado tore up parts of our town yesterday. Got power back in the clinic this AM but many folks still out or just taking off for clean up. Few coming to the office.

You gotta admit that P.C. answer was at least a little funny :-)

Several injuries no deaths.

Some houses total loss, some with various levels of damage, most no damage.

Lots of property damage. I lost most of my mature trees on my property in my neighborhood. One of my at least 100 year old oaks uprooted completely. Very sad to see these beauties destroyed. New ones won't be grown back to that level of splendor during my lifetime.

At least our house and our clinic are both fine.

Hi there. As other posters have already told you there is no beach on Caulker. Before you go please search the web so you can see what you are getting into. There are beaches in Placencia and i loved the beaches in Hopkins, But please realize there will be sea grass and sometimes the beaches are very dirty. (i think from cruise ships dumping garbage)
Enjoy your trip to Belize and you will love Caulker, so laid back and relaxing, Three days is enough to stay there than go traveling and see the rest of the beautiful country. Whale Sharks will be in Placencia I think for the next month or two. I saw and swam with one last year. Awesome! I will help you out with any questions if i can. Email me globae@hotmail.com
