Hi, I'm new to the forum and also a 1st time visitor to Belize. My husband and I will be in Ambergris for Easter. We were wondering what to expect. Thanks.

Lots of families, kids a plenty and no booze served on Good Friday.

We don't get in until Sat. Thank goodness I would hate to arrive and not be able to have a beer!

We made the mistake of taking a "long weekend" trip during Easter weekend last year.

Almost everything was closed all weekend. Many guide boats weren't operating making it difficult to hire a small private boat.

I hope you guys are staying longer than just Easter weekend.

Easter is the most expensive holiday all year for employers. Double time, double time and a half, time and a half and so on for 4 days. After opening the first year, I decided last year and now this year to close.
My suggestion would be if you have cooking facilities get Simon to bring you some groceries and make breakfast in. Then find out where you can eat the rest of the day. Today at the Monkey Bites Cafe, I am making fresh lasagna and shepherds pie that we freeze and you can heat and serve. Have fun this Easter.

Sunday I heard there is a big party at Crazy Canucks including live music and kite flying contest - still waiting for more details.

mmmmm hot X buns...I should see if I can find ingredients

I understand that on Saturday and Sunday there is a big party in the downtown square with some reggae artists and Linda Blease from KREM tv/radio should be around as well - The saturday events have a 20 dollar cover charge and the sunday ones are free...poledancing contests, jugglers etc.
