Hi everyone, I need some advice! We are planning to stay in Caye Caulker and I want to know what hotel would be best. My choices are Tree Tops, Spindrift, Tropical Paradise Resort and Trends Beachfront. I am mostly concerned with safety and cleanliness, but a convenient location is important too. TIA

Of the ones you mention (I'm familiar with them all except Spindrift) I'd opt for Trends Beachfront. It coundn't be any more convenient, right at the main pier on the front side where you get off the water taxi, next to the Sandbox restaurant. Fairly new, lovely green and pink, nice simple rooms. Think they're around US$30 double. Often it's full, due to its handy location.

The Seaside Cabanas across the way from there also are convenient and nice, with a bit more space than Trends.

Both choices Lan mentioned are o.k., but the best of the best is truly Tree Tops. While its about a 5 minute walk south of the main pier via the beach, the rooms are terrific, a great value for the money. They only have 4 rooms, but their level of cleanliness and ascetic value far surpasses many more expensive accomodations. You won't be sorry you chose Tree Tops. Their web address is http://www.treetopsbelize.com (don't be misled by the crappy web design, the place is truly wonderful)
