While the rest of the world is converting to cheap VIOP by cellphones, (see: here, here, here, here and here). Belize still lives in the telecommunications stone age. Was the PUC decision a while ago to allow BTL to block VIOP already a slap in the face of the Belizean people, telephone service has become much worse during the last months. Hotels are getting multiple complaints daily from guests who try to call them and get: "Number does not exist", other messages or just don't get anything - If there is a HELL for telecommunications, Belize MUST BE IT. The "New and Exciting" Belize Telemidia Limited and our Prime Minister's former Prime Client, are mainly responsible for the disgraceful poor and outrageously expensive telecommunications infrastructure in Belize.

I'm not sure what you are saying here, but BTL was a well run public utility providing the govt and stockholders with good returns til sold and resold to Ashcroft under PUP. Ashcroft has an army of lawyers on staff and retainers associated with each political party, including the former and present PM's legal offices. And then some.

Katie - are you saying that BTL was totally independent of Ashcroft until the PUP handed it over to him? Who founded it?
