The San Pedro Town Council informs the public in general that effective Monday, May 25th maintenance work will commence at Boca del Rio Bridge. In order to carry on this work, the bridge will be temporarily closed daily (for a period of one month) to all pedestrians, vehicular and sea traffic as follows:
From 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. & from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
In addition a half of the bridge (horizontally) will be closed from 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. The Council apologizes for the inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their understanding.

from a friend...
Today's announcement said that the bridge will be closed to "sea traffic" ......... which at first made no sense to me, but on second read maybe it means you can't take your boat under the bridge.
I will check with authorities today to clarify hat this means and let you know what they say. NEMO is also being queried on impact & plans related to this.

I think we have already sorted out what it means to close half of the bridge "horizontally" ? One lane open, one closed.

50 or 60 people a day pass under the bridge in boats going and coming to work. The other way around would be awful long and not practical, so it does need some consideration.

I just read the San Pedro Daily online, and saw a blurb about the bridge maintenance on the 25th, and a reader asks what about the kids who attend Holy Cross and who are let out of school at 2:00, 2;30 and 3:00 p.m.? How will these children get home (most live south of the bridge)?

I just got a call about an accident at the bridge, apparently someone put up a chain to block access but no sign and the chain is hard to see. This could be a good way to get rid of all those annoying motorcyclists as they ride into the setting sun going home across the bridge raise it to about neck level. just kidding and I'm sorry for everyone that was hurt. some one needs to get a sign marker on that chain asap. This is what the third world living is like you have to watch more carefully for stupid things like this, can't assume anyone is going to do the prudent or responsible thing.
